Dictionary Recommendations for Level 4 (Advanced Beginner/Lower Intermediate)

A dictionary that is only in Engish can help you to begin thinking in English, but some are not helpful, because they are too hard. Here are two dictionaries that I recommend for my level 4 students:

• Longman Handy Learner's Dictionary of American English — This is my favorite dictionary for learning English.


• The Basic Newbury House Dictionary of American English — Some of you have used this dictionary in the school. I do not think that it is in print now, but you can still find it on the internet.

These dictionaries do not have all the words you will see, but they have enough to help you learn.
